Play with a purpose
John offers individual, group, and family therapeutic sessions utilizing the art of play to lift self-esteem, improve social skills, and to help with the management of aggressive, disruptive behavior. Play is the universal language of children of all ages.
John has worked with children of all ages for over 30 years. He’s coordinated youth sports and special events in community parks and recreation, coached middle school basketball, and girl’s softball. John has spent the last 25 plus years at the Sacramento Children’s Home as their Recreation Program Manager.
Debbie is a certified R.T. by the California Board of Recreation & Parks Certification. She is also a member of CPRS (Ca. Parks & Recreation) & ATRA (American Therapeutic Recreation Association).
She has spent much of her career providing Recreation Therapy to individuals with developmental disabilities. She creates a variety of teambuilding events for staff, elementary & high school students, community groups as well as small or large businesses.
Debbie created and opened her consulting business; Therapeutic Recreation Consultants in 1988!
Debbie graduated from C.S.U. Sacramento in 1987. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation administration - Therapeutic Recreation.
Therapeutic Recreation Consultants continues to grow strong! We provide Recreation Therapy consultation. We assist individuals to maximize their independence through recreational activities. We provide experiences to improve physical, cognitive, emotional, social & leisure skills. We serve all abilities.

Tamica graduated in 1998 with her Bachelor of Science degree and in 1999 with her Master of Science degree both in Therapeutic Recreation & Leisure Services from Southern University A&M College. She is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist who has worked as a Director of Recreation with children with emotional disturbances, a Recreation Therapist in rehabilitation and psychiatric services, a consultant serving adults with developmental delay, taught Assessment and Documentation courses at Sacramento State, RT services at male corrections facility setting, and an Assistant Administrator for an assisted living community.
Tamica has facilitated and developed a dementia support group, provided various trainings, and is skilled at developing policies and procedures. Above all, she loves working with people of all ages and abilities. Her love for fun, adventure, and making people laugh makes recreation therapy a part of her daily lifestyle.
